This dude in the 50s, Warwick Kerr lived in South America, took European honey bees and bred them with South African bees in the hopes he'd have more honey and bees that could live in more tropical climates. The guy didn't realize right then and there that he had created the infamous Africanized bees or "Killer Bees." He kept them in a closed hive then his buddy and fellow beekeeper comes over and sees an obstruction in the hive and removes it. This allowed the bees to swarm out of the hive and they got released into the wild. Killer Bees were made by one guy. An entire species. Let that sink in. Every single killer bee is descended from 26 Tanzanian queen bees that swarmed out in 1957. How's that for an origin story!

Maybe I'm misunderstanding your phonetics, but why would "gi" make a "w" sound?

Geordi La Forge from TNG is played by LeVar Burton.

How. Did. I. Not. Realize. This. Before?

On a related note, Wikipedia has informed me that LeVar Burton was born in West Germany.

And yet he can still be elected president, inasmuch as he was born abroad as a result of his father serving abroad.

A tricky prickly playing field, the world sometimes is! At least we know the butterfly in question can fly as high as any other.

Hanako was the name of a scarlet Koi fish that had been passed down and taken care of through a family that spanned generations. She was the oldest known fish in captivity. In order to analyze the exact age of Hanako, she was extracted from the pond in the deep mountains of Mino Province. She was found to be 215 years old.

Side note I've been keeping fish for years and one thing I can say is that the Japanese have perfected the art of fish keeping. Anyone looking to be mesmerized should look up "The Green Machine." It's a channel on youtube that deals with master aquascaping which originated in Japan. Really amazing how long your fish can live when you put a little love into the water.

^They are red, after all.

Halo Top pistachio ice cream doesn't taste as good as Talenti's pistachio gelato. Doesn't got pistachio bits in, neither.

Big reason I tried out Halo Top was it's on the cheap at my store just now. Just goes to show, you get what you pay for.

I tried Halo Top because I obviously can't have ice cream when I'm eating clean. (plus it has 20g of protein so that's a win) I found it to be super disappointing. Probably for the same reason that you did. It's not really ice cream. It's like craving a filet mignon but there's only flank steak.

The c in "proboscis" is soft, not hard.

I've been pronouncing that word incorrect since elementary school.

I dunno. Maybe I'd switch to the mediocre low-cal alternative if I wanted ice cream every day. I really don't.

If it's a once-a-week (or less) thing, like why not treat yourself to the good stuff.

I never made it passed two purchases before I just went back to regular ice cream when I really was craving it.

The standard 4lb bag of sugar is almost exactly the median lethal dose for the average adult. So if anyone ever dumps the whole bag in your food, they're probably an assassin.

South Africa is the only country with three capital cities - Cape Town (legislative), Pretoria (administrative), and Bloemfontein (judicial).

Some other countries have two capital cities, such as Bolivia and Chile.
